May Meeting Highlights:

Don Brooks, President, was our guest speaker for Mays meeting with a comprehensive look at studio lighting for portraiture. Don went all out and  brought in half a ton of lighting and other equipment, his huge screen laptop and his grandson for a model! With lights positioned in various places, he demonstrated the effects used in portrait photography from bouncing lights off the ceiling or white boards, to using fill flash or hand- held flash systems. We could view the instant results on the laptop screen to discern what works and what doesn't. It was a very informative presentation especially to those who have not experimented much with studio lighting and techniques. Thanks Don and thanks to your grandson for being such a charming victim!

A benefit to aid the Carolyn A. Miller School in Budaubram Refugee Camp in Ghana, Africa will be held at the Reed Intermediate School on 6/18 from 7:00- 9:00 p.m. Our club will be shooting family portraits and copying them to a CD with all proceeds to go to the Miller school. Volunteers are needed for help in this endeavor. The benefit/ exhibition will include pen-pal letters and photos taken from both the students at Reed and in Ghana, poetry & multi media plus a concert with Easton's opera singer Joshua Fein with the students. PLEASE NOTE: The Ghana School needs a lap top computer and digital cameras so if you have any equipment lying around unused, please consider making them a donation!

Flagpole Photographers and the Candlewood Camera Club are teaming together to buy a new digital projector to be shared by our clubs. We are soliciting recommended donations of $20.00 from members to be collected at June meeting.

This year will mark the end of the paper newsletter being mailed to everyone. All of the information regarding meetings, upcoming events, winning monthly photos, rules and etc. will be posted on the website www.flagpolephotographers.com  Which is handled (with finesse!) by Tom Coryat.
